I have done a number of funeral related events over the last few years so it wasn’t a surprise when I was contacted by John Sidlow the NAFD Yorkshire Area Federation President.
He asked if I would attend and photograph the Presidents dinner in Barnsley. The funeral industry is full of interesting people, different cultures and religions…how could I refuse!
The event included speeches, awards and in particular the ceremonial handing over of the ‘Chains of Office’ for the incoming new President, Mrs Leanne Rookledge.
The speeches were heartfelt and emotional.
I was surprised to see Oliver Peyton OBE the Irish restaurateur present. He has his own funeral business which he spoke about with such passion. This is a big change from his TV career and his 13 years as a Great British Menu judge but nonetheless a truly inspiring change of direction.
All-in-all it was a really moving event with passionate people.
The evening raised an incredible £2060.00 for Weston Park Cancer Charity….great result!!!
It was an honour to record the night for them.
