This truly was a wedding that had everything !!.
It was a very long day with a very early start but worth every single minute !
Bridal preparations kicked my day off followed by what can only be described as a wonderfully cultural experience.
I had a brief as to what to expect and was unsure as to whether there was time to photograph it all before it was time to leave for the venue.
A mix of East and West was the order of the day.
After Bridal preparations, Robbin, the groom arrived with the Best Man.
There was a ceremony outside the front door, both men having to ask to be allowed entry.
They had to pay to enter and then as a forfeit they had to eat some Durian fruit, whilst family looked on. This is the well-known, incredibly smelly Asian fruit.
The parents of the Bride ceremoniously lifted her veil and when the Groom entered, he then ceremoniously closed the veil.
A tea ceremony followed and presents were exchanged
It was the first time I had photographed such a wedding and I can’t wait for my next one !
Did I mention the flowers……The flowers were beautiful !!!
Both Madelaine & Robbin travelled to The Double Trees Hotel in the Canal Basin, a wonderful location despite (from my point of view) the overly bright sunshine.
The view at the top of the Hotel across Leeds was just perfect, but the sun could have been a real problem !
During the ceremony, the sun illuminated the whole floor. There were no blinds and the sun came straight in to my lens, leaving Bride & Groom completely silhouetted. Bit of adjustment need to flash and exposure settings and then crack on…..I do like a challenge!!
Well the only thing left was the group photo’s and time for a bit of fun.
Followed by too short a time with Madelaine & Robbin !!
All-in-all a wonderful experience for me and a privilege to be allowed to photograph such a lovely couple.
